Seeing as I get so many hits from my past live Los Lobos post (now disappeared into cyberlimbo), I thought I would humor those of you who are into these awesome musicians.

This is a charity gig from late September in San Francisco, for a real worthy cause, as one would expect, called Seva. Check it out and donate if you can and are so inclined!!

Lobos for Kids

Ok this one goes out to Bert! Since he's as big a Los Lobos fan as I am, here is a CD that they put out for children, featuring the spoken word narrative of one of their chicano heroes, Lalo Guerrero.

I wouldn't say it's a "proper" Lobos album, but a one-off experiment, and as such it has a couple of duds, but there's some rockin' music on it too, particularly "Buzz Buzz".

Back from a long awaited and long overdue hiatus, aka vacation.


To celebrate, a reup requested by a Mr "Tobi" of Los Lobos live and acoustic in 2005. So here you go, bud. I re-equalized it from the original FLAC files, so if you downloaded this from here before, I do believe this sounds better.
Actually as part of my vacation I was just in Chiquinquirá, mentioned on the 6th track here, "El Cuchipe", which is a traditional Colombian/andean song:

"De Chichinquirá yo vengo de pagar una promesa / Ahorita que estamos solitos dame un besito Teresa"

It's a small town in the "departamento" of Cundinamarca. The Virgin of Chichinquira is the patron virgin of Colombia, and many people still to this day make long pilgrimages to, like the song says, pay off a promise.

Este es un proyecto de dos de Los Lobos, junto con el que fué su productor en los discos "Kiko" y "This Time" y "Colossal Head", Mitchell Froom, con el ingeniero de sonido Tchad Blake. Grabado a modo de grabaciones caseras, dejando e invitando sonidos/ruidos de ambiente o incidentales, es un trabajo que crea una espesa atmósfera de intimidad, accidente, y del poder de lo simple, lo minimal.
